“Perhaps the Most Interesting Dynamic”: Tom Holland on Spider-Man and Punisher’s Relationship in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'

Tom Holland visited the Empire State Building in New York on the day the trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day was released — and shared what to expect from one of the film’s key duos. In the movie, Peter Parker will be joined by the Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal.

According to Holland, the characters initially didn’t like each other at all — but through improvisation on set, a completely different chemistry emerged between them. The actor also gave credit to Robert Downey Jr., calling working with him his favorite part of his entire Spider-Man career.

At the center of the story is Peter Parker, whom the entire world has forgotten after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Living in isolation, he throws himself into being Spider-Man — but the pressure builds, triggering an unexpected physical mutation as a new threat rises in the city.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released worldwide on July 31, 2026. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. The cast, alongside Holland, includes Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Mark Ruffalo, and Sadie Sink.
