“I’d Be Shocked If It Doesn’t Happen”: Robert Kirkman Shares Update on the 'Invincible' Movie

The creator of Invincible, Robert Kirkman, gave an interview alongside the release of the fourth season — and also spoke about the long-announced live-action film. The short version: it’s still in development, there are still no concrete details, but Kirkman remains optimistic.
Unfortunately, there’s not much I can say. I’ll just say that the show makes developing the movie both significantly easier and significantly harder — in different ways. That’s really all I can say for now. I’d be shocked if it doesn’t happen at some point.
The Invincible movie was first announced back in 2017 — it was set to be written, directed, and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Nearly a decade has passed since then, three seasons of the animated series have been released, and there’s still no real news about the film. Kirkman has previously explained that the movie needs to offer a fundamentally different experience compared to the show — and achieving that is not easy.
The fourth season of Invincible is currently airing on Prime Video, and a fifth has already been confirmed. Kirkman has hinted that he’d like the series to run for eight or even ten seasons — so the film may still have a long wait ahead of it.
