«We still don’t have budget»: the author of The Boys urged viewers not to expect an epic finale on the level of Game of Thrones

Fans of The Boys series should not expect a large-scale bloody battle in the spirit of Game of Thrones from the finale. The reason is simple — the authors do not have such budgets. This was stated by the show's creator Eric Kripke.
The fifth season of The Boys will be released on Prime Video on April 8, 2026. It is known that this will be the finale for the show — then only the prequels and spin-offs. Eric Kripke personally insisted on this in communication with Amazon management. The fact is that, according to the plot, Homelander has already seized power in the United States and imposed martial law there. After that, you can't pretend like nothing happened.
"It’s Homelander’s world and, unfortunately, we’re all living in it. Starlight is mounting a desperate resistance, but The Boys are scattered. Frenchie, Mother’s Milk and Hughie have been captured. We talked a lot about the French Resistance and prison camp breaks. We were really working our way through that kind of season".
In a recent interview, Eric Kripke shared that the series' conclusion was cleansing and emotionally satisfying. At the same time, he stressed that the creators do not have the budget of "Game of Thrones" for a large-scale finale.
"I mean, there are not full battle scenes because we still don’t have Game of Thrones‘ budget, but there are a lot of very direct confrontations; a lot of the people that you want to see smashing into each other smash into each other. I hope it’s cathartic and emotionally satisfying, but I’m a tiny bit terrified".
It is already known that in the fifth season, the world will completely submit to the whims of Homelander. Hughie, Mother's Milk and Frenchie are locked up, and Starlight is trying to organize resistance to the forces of the supers. I haven't heard anything about Kimiko at all. The situation will be changed by Butcher, who is ready to use a virus capable of destroying all supers.
In early March, Amazon Prime released two posters for the final season of The Boys. They are so epic that they speak for themselves.
