“I didn’t let them finish”: Jensen Ackles confirms Vought Rising is planned for multiple seasons
Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy in The Boys, confirmed in an interview that the spin-off Vought Rising was originally conceived as a multi-season project.
According to him, he agreed to return to the role before even hearing the full pitch.
I think the intention is to do multiple seasons. When they pitched it, they said, “Hey, we’re thinking about a prequel about Soldier Boy in the 1950s.” I don’t think I even let them finish — I just said yes.
The series is a prequel to The Boys, set in the 1950s. The story revolves around a mysterious murder case tied to the early days of Vought and Soldier Boy’s first missions. Aya Cash will also return as Stormfront, known in that era as Clara Vought. Filming for the first season wrapped in February 2026, though a release date has yet to be announced — it’s expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
The fifth and final season of The Boys will premiere on Prime Video on April 8, 2026. In it, the world has fallen under the control of Homelander (Antony Starr), while Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie have ended up in a detention camp. The showrunner has already warned fans not to expect massive, Game of Thrones–scale battles — instead, the series will focus on more localized conflicts.
Vought Rising will become the fourth project in The Boys universe, following the main series, the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical, and the spin-off Gen V. Another spin-off, The Boys: Mexico, is also in development.
