The Boys spin-off about Soldier Boy will be released in 2027
The fifth and final season of The Boys premieres on April 8, 2026, but fans will have to wait longer for the next series set in the world of Supes. Showrunner Eric Kripke confirmed that the spin-off Vought Rising will not arrive until 2027.
The new show will be set in the 1950s. Vought Rising will tell the story of Soldier Boy’s early years, with Jensen Ackles reprising the role, while another key character will be Stormfront, played once again by Aya Cash. The prequel will focus on the rise of Vought, with the story centered around a “dark detective mystery.”
According to Kripke, filming wrapped back in March 2026, but the visual effects alone will take around eight months to complete. After that, Amazon will need additional time to localize the series. Kripke also noted that he has already assembled a rough cut through episode seven and is pleased with the result.
At the same time, Vought Rising apparently will not be limited to just one season. Jensen Ackles previously said the series was conceived from the start as a multi-season story, while Kripke later added that the writers are already discussing ideas for a second season.
In addition to Ackles and Cash, the cast of Vought Rising includes Mark Pellegrino, Mason Dye, KiKi Layne, Nicolo Pasetti, Will Hochman, Elizabeth Posey, Jorden Myrie, Ricky Staffieri, and Brian J. Smith.
Eric Kripke previously said that he insisted on this in communication with Amazon management. The reason is that, according to the plot, Homelander has already seized power in the United States and imposed martial law there. After that, you can't pretend like nothing happened.
In early March, Amazon Prime released two posters for the final season of The Boys. They are so epic that they speak for themselves.
