“I didn’t think we could match season one”: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star believes season two will surpass it

Peter Claffey, who plays Ser Duncan the Tall in HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, has shared his first impressions of filming season two — and he’s clearly excited.

The second season adapts the novella The Sworn Sword: the story takes place during a drought in the Reach, where Dunk and Egg enter the service of an aging lord, Ser Eustace Osgrey. He is locked in a long-standing dispute over water with a powerful neighboring noblewoman — Lady Rohanne Webber, known as the Red Widow. Claffey also noted that the season will seriously test Dunk in his interactions with women for the first time — and he doesn’t exactly handle it well.

The new cast for season two has already been partially revealed: Lucy Boynton will play Lady Rohanne, Peter Mullan will portray Ser Eustace, and Babou Ceesay will appear as Ser Bennis. Filming began in December 2025 in Belfast and is expected to wrap around June 2026. The first season, which premiered in January 2026, averaged 14 million viewers per episode in the U.S. and holds a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Season two is expected in 2027.
