Who will win this time? The Oscar organizers have announced when the 99th and 100th ceremonies will take place
The next Academy Award ceremony will be held on March 14, 2027. The nominees will traditionally be announced much earlier — on January 21. This was reported by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The upcoming ceremony will be the 99th in the history of the Oscars. The organizers of the award decided to designate a key date for the anniversary year: the 100th award ceremony will be held on March 5, 2028.
This year, the main star of the Oscars was One Battle After Another starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The film won the award for Best Film, leaving behind Bugonia, Sinners, Marty Supreme, Frankenstein and F1.
However, right before the Oscar 2026 ceremony, Deadline reported that many critics who had previously voted for the awards had declined to participate this year. The reason could be just one requirement — to watch every movie.
The director, who was himself nominated for an Oscar in one of the main categories, and is now a critic, wrote to the editor. He admitted that he had not even seen half of the proposed paintings.
