Report: Metal Gear Solid Movie Finds Its Directors — Known for Final Destination: Bloodlines

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the long-awaited film adaptation of the Metal Gear Solid video game series is moving forward and has found its directors. The project will be helmed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, the directing duo best known for the horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines.

The report states that Sony has signed a major deal with the directors, under which they will be working on several projects for the studio—one of which is the Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation.

The film will be produced by Avi Arad and his son Ari Arad, both of whom have been involved in major comic book and video game adaptations in the past. Sony hopes the project will join the ranks of the studio’s commercially driven film lineup.

The Metal Gear Solid franchise, created by Hideo Kojima, is considered one of the most influential stealth-action series of all time. Previous attempts to bring it to the big screen have fallen through—in 2014, Jordan Vogt-Roberts was attached to direct, but his version never made it into production.

As of now, there’s no word on when filming will begin or when the new adaptation will hit theaters.

Meanwhile, a movie based on The Legend of Zelda adventure game series is also in development. Recently, fans got their first look at Link and Zelda, with filming taking place at the same locations used for The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
