Sydney Sweeney to Star in Supernatural Thriller The Caretaker
Following her string of recent hits, Sydney Sweeney is set to lead yet another high-stakes adaptation — this time with a supernatural twist.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney has been cast in the lead role for The Caretaker, based on the upcoming novel by Marcus Kliewer. The project has found a home at Universal Pictures, with David Bruckner — the mind behind The Ritual and the Hellraiser reimagining — set to direct. Heavyweights Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are on board to produce, while Sweeney herself will co-produce alongside Scott Glassgold.
The source material is slated for release on April 21. The plot follows Macy Mullins, who accepts a high-paying, three-day caretaking gig. However, the simple job quickly devolves into a nightmare when an ancient evil awakens on an Oregon coastal estate, leaving Macy as the only line of defense between the monster and the rest of the world.
Sweeney recently made headlines following the release of the Euphoria Season 3 teaser. Prior to this, a December 2027 release date was confirmed for The Housemaid's Secret, the highly anticipated sequel to The Housemaid, which will also star the actress.
