Battlefield Movie Announced: Meet the Powerhouse Duo Behind the Adaptation

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Christopher McQuarrie and Michael B. Jordan are officially teaming up to bring the Battlefield franchise to the big screen.

The project has assembled a truly star-studded creative team. Christopher McQuarrie, the director behind the recent Mission: Impossible films, is set to write the screenplay and direct the feature. Starring alongside the project as a producer is Michael B. Jordan, the actor who recently took home an Oscar for his performance in Sinners. While not yet confirmed, it is widely speculated that Jordan may also take on the lead role.

The creators are currently in the process of selecting a studio, having already held meetings with Apple and Sony. A key requirement for the deal is a guaranteed theatrical release, which reportedly leaves Netflix's involvement in question.

The film rights are expected to command a massive price tag. Battlefield remains one of the world's most iconic gaming franchises; its latest installment, released in 2025, even outperformed its main rival, Call of Duty. Interestingly, this rivalry will now extend to the box office, as Paramount is already developing a Call of Duty movie with director Peter Berg at the helm.

Previously, the release date and official logo for the Call of Duty film were revealed.
