Pixar is making a new Finding Nemo short — and Dory is back

Pixar is developing a new short film set in the world of Finding Nemo — and Ellen DeGeneres is returning as the voice of Dory. The news was reported by Deadline.

Details are scarce so far: the title, сюжет, and release date remain unknown, as production has only just begun. The only confirmed information is that the story will take place within the Finding Nemo universe.

For Ellen DeGeneres, this marks a notable return. In 2024, she openly said she was stepping away from show business following the controversial end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which ran for 19 seasons and concluded in 2022 amid allegations of a toxic workplace environment. Since then, her only project had been the Netflix stand-up special For Your Approval. Now, Dory has brought her back.

The original Finding Nemo was released in 2003, grossed $941 million worldwide, and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. Dory — a blue tang fish with short-term memory loss — became the film’s most memorable character and later got her own sequel, Finding Dory, in 2016, which also crossed the $1 billion mark.
