“It's Incredible” — Jurassic Park Star Sam Neill Announces Remission After Grueling Cancer Battle

Actor Sam Neill, best known for his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the iconic Jurassic Park franchise, has shared uplifting news about his health following several difficult years battling a rare form of cancer.
In 2023, Neill revealed he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma—a rare and aggressive blood cancer. Over the following years, the actor underwent rounds of chemotherapy, but eventually, the treatment stopped working.
According to Neill, at one point doctors told him that standard therapies were no longer effective, and his situation became critical. This prompted him to participate in a clinical trial for a new type of therapy.
The treatment in question is CAR T-cell therapy—a form of immunotherapy in which a patient’s own immune cells are modified in the lab to recognize and destroy cancer cells. The “reprogrammed” cells are then returned to the body.
Neill shared that after completing the treatment, his latest scans showed no signs of the disease. He described the results as “incredible” and said he’s ready to continue working in film.
The news of his remission is especially meaningful given his long struggle with illness over the past several years. While there are no confirmed plans for him to return to the Jurassic Park franchise, the actor remains active in the industry. He’s also set to appear in Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, which is slated for release in 2027.
Neill’s story has become a prominent example of the advances in modern immunotherapy, which continues to evolve and is already showing real results in treating previously hard-to-cure cancers.
By the way, last year we published a ranking of the Jurassic Park movies from worst to best. The latest film in the series is Jurassic World: Dominion, which we reviewed in detail.
Do you believe that, thanks to new technologies, cancer could stop being a fatal diagnosis in the coming decades?
