Roger Sweet, the creator of He-Man, based on whom the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was filmed, has died. The designer was 91 years old, according to Variety.
In the 1970s and 80s, Roger Sweet worked as a designer at Mattel. In 1982, he tried to come up with a new figurine, experimenting and adding clay to the then-hit Mattel called Big Jim. That's how He-Man turned out, which Roger Sweet successfully introduced to the company's management.
He-Man became a revolutionary project in a sense because of its high mobility — other figures at that time were usually static. The toy was in demand, so a year later the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe began to be released. It received 130 episodes and lasted until 1985.
Roger Sweet had been suffering from dementia for a long time before his death. The designer has a wife, Marlene.
Unfortunately, this is not the first loss for the entertainment industry in 2026. At the end of last month, actor Chuck Norris, the star of action films and the TV series Walker, Texas Ranger died. He was 86 years old.
