Homelander did not like the ending of Stranger Things because “no one died”

Antony Starr, best known for playing Homelander in The Boys, criticized the finale of an unnamed popular show because “no one died.” However, everyone immediately understood which series he meant.
During an interview with WIRED, Starr was asked whether he was worried that The Boys might join the list of shows with controversial finales. The actor admitted that it is almost impossible to satisfy every viewer, because everyone expects something different from an ending. After that, he recalled a recent finale that disappointed him.
One popular show recently ended — I will not say which one — and no one died. In the finale, I was scratching my head thinking: “There is nowhere else to go. This is the end of the road. Kill somebody!”
Fans quickly connected Starr’s words to the finale of Stranger Things. The show’s ending sparked a wave of outrage among fans because it felt too safe and lacked real drama. At the same time, before the final season aired, co-creator Matt Duffer warned viewers not to expect a bloody massacre in the spirit of Game of Thrones: “This is not Game of Thrones. We are not in Westeros. I love Game of Thrones, but it is a completely different show. There will not be a situation like the Red Wedding. I think some very unexpected things will happen in the finale, but we are not trying to shock or upset anyone.”
Starr, however, hinted that the finale of The Boys will be much harsher. He recalled the words of showrunner Eric Kripke, who advised fans not to get too attached to the characters, because in the final season “anyone can die.”
