Soldier Boy Returns in the First Teaser for The Boys Prequel
Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Vought Rising, a new The Boys prequel series exploring the origins of Vought Corporation and the early days of Soldier Boy. Set in 1950s New York City, the show takes viewers back to a time when superheroes were only beginning to evolve into tools of power, propaganda, and brutal experimentation.
The series stars Jensen Ackles reprising his role as a younger Soldier Boy, alongside Aya Cash returning as Stormfront. However, during this period, the character is still known by her original name — Clara Vought. The teaser offers a glimpse at the first V1 serum experiments, an early version of Compound V that would later become the foundation of the entire supe industry in The Boys universe.
Judging by the first footage, Vought Rising is leaning heavily into retro noir, spy thriller aesthetics, and dark superhero drama. The teaser features Vought laboratories, the Sage Grove psychiatric facility, early superhero prototypes, and Soldier Boy in his first classic suit. The creators have described the project as a mix between L.A. Confidential and The Boys — only dirtier, more violent, and even more cynical.
The series will also introduce Bombsight, Torpedo, and several other early supes. One of the central storylines focuses on Soldier Boy’s origin story. According to creator Eric Kripke, the character wasn’t an idealistic volunteer, but rather a spoiled rich kid who bought his way into Vought’s experimental program, which quickly made him unpopular among the other test subjects.
Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys franchise became famous for its brutal satire of superhero culture, corporations, and celebrity worship. Instead of traditional heroes, the series portrays corrupt, dangerous, and deeply flawed supes protected by the massive media empire of Vought International. While the fifth season of The Boys is expected to conclude the story of Billy Butcher and Homelander following the end of the main series, Amazon clearly has no intention of leaving this universe behind anytime soon.
Vought Rising is being showrun by Paul Grellong, with Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, and Evan Goldberg serving as executive producers. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
Vought Rising is set to premiere on Prime Video in 2027.
It was also recently reported that the final two episodes of The Boys received the worst audience ratings in the show’s history.
Do you think Vought Rising can live up to the success of The Boys?
