Elliot Page Cast as Sinon, Not Achilles, in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

Elliot Page, best known for his roles in Juno and The Umbrella Academy, will portray the Greek spy Sinon in Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic The Odyssey, according to a leaked Hungarian dubbing cast list. This revelation ends earlier speculation that Page would play Achilles, a rumor that had circulated widely among fans.

Sinon is a pivotal figure in the story of the Trojan Horse: in myth, he persuades the Trojans to bring the wooden horse inside their city walls by pretending to be a deserted Greek, ultimately leading to Troy's downfall. While Sinon does not appear in Homer's Odyssey, his tale is recounted in Virgil's Aeneid and other ancient sources, indicating that Nolan is drawing from a broader range of classical literature for his adaptation.

The Odyssey features a star-studded ensemble alongside Page. Matt Damon will play Odysseus, Tom Holland is cast as Telemachus, Anne Hathaway takes on the role of Penelope, Zendaya appears as Athena, Robert Pattinson plays Antinous, and Charlize Theron is Calypso. Lupita Nyong'o is also attached to the project, though her role has not yet been officially revealed.

With a reported $250 million budget, The Odyssey is one of Nolan's most ambitious projects to date. The film was shot using the latest IMAX cameras, features cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema, and has a runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes. Notably, it has received an R rating — unusual for a blockbuster of this scale, which typically targets a broader audience.

Universal is following a traditional press strategy, holding critic screenings on July 7 and skipping influencer previews. Early press screenings have already taken place, with initial reactions praising the performances of Damon, Hathaway, Pattinson, and Holland. The world premiere is scheduled for July 17, 2026.
