Dune: Part Three Movie Release Date, Trailer, Cast, and Plot

Dune: Part Three is the final installment in Denis Villeneuve's trilogy, based on Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah. Timothée Chalamet returns as Paul Atreides, who has become Emperor of the known universe.

The screenplay was written by Denis Villeneuve and Brian K. Vaughan. Hans Zimmer returned to compose the score.

Unlike the first two films, the third movie is no longer about Paul's rise to power, but about the consequences of that power. The story shifts from the war for Arrakis to the religious cult of Muad'Dib, political conspiracies, and Paul's attempt to avoid the future he himself set in motion.

The Dune: Part Three trailer shows the aftermath of Paul Atreides' rise to power, Chani's new role, and the return of Duncan Idaho as Hayt.

Paul Atreides has defeated House Harkonnen, taken the Imperial throne, and gained control of Arrakis. However, the holy war started by his followers has spread across the galaxy and claimed billions of lives. Despite his immense power, Paul understands that he is gradually becoming a symbol of the violence he once tried to avoid.

As the new Emperor tries to hold the Imperium together and find a way to change the future he has foreseen, a secret alliance begins forming against him. The Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild, and the Tleilaxu unite to remove Paul from power and stop the spread of Muad'Dib's cult. The conspirators plan to use not only political intrigue, but also the ruler's own weaknesses. One of their main tools is Hayt, an artificially resurrected Duncan Idaho who does not remember his former life.

Dune: Part Three is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026. The film will open in regular theaters, IMAX, and IMAX 70mm.
