Disney officially announces Zootopia 3 and reveals the sequel's logo
Disney Animation announced Zootopia 3 at D23, and the studio used the reveal to signal where the franchise is headed next: into a world that will include birds. The presentation also included the sequel's logo.
The announcement came with a brief reminder of the ending to Zootopia 2. Before the new reveal, Disney replayed the feather scene that appeared on Judy Hopps' windowsill after the credits. In the new film, that bird motif is no longer just a tease — it is the direction of the story.
Disney also made it clear that Judy Hopps and Gary are coming back. Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan will reprise those roles, while Jared Bush, Disney Animation's chief creative officer, appeared on stage to introduce the project.
Bush said the franchise still has room to grow, noting:
We've only seen one city on one continent on one planet. There are still many stories here.
That fits the studio's message for the sequel: Zootopia is expanding beyond its mammal-only setup.
At the same time, Disney has not shared a synopsis or a release date for Zootopia 3. Reports say the film is still in early production, and some sources expect it no earlier than 2030.
For now, the announcement leaves one big question hanging: how will Zootopia work once birds become part of the world?
