Sony Pictures Nearing Deal for Battlefield Movie Rights
Sony Pictures is currently the frontrunner to land the film adaptation rights for Electronic Arts' Battlefield video game franchise. The company is currently in active negotiations to secure the deal.
The movie rights for Battlefield were put up for sale earlier this spring. A fierce bidding war broke out among five major media giants: Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon MGM Studios, Sony, Universal, and Netflix.
Christopher McQuarrie is attached to direct, write, and co-produce the upcoming feature. Michael B. Jordan previously joined the project as a producer and is also potentially eyed to star in the leading role.
It is worth noting that a live-action feature film based on the rival Call of Duty shooter franchise is also in active development. That project is slated to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.
