Gladiator 2 trailer shows sharks in the Colosseum and a fight with a rhino

The debut trailer for Gladiator 2 — the sequel to the cult 2000 film — has been released on YouTube. The main roles are played by Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, and Denzel Washington.

The events of the film take place 20 years after the story of General Maximus. According to the plot, Lucius, the nephew of Emperor Commodus, returns to Rome and becomes an arena fighter.

Ridley Scott once again serves as the director. The idea to release a sequel appeared back in the early 2000s, but the creators faced issues with rights and the script. As a result, the film's plot was written by David Scarpa, the screenwriter of Napoleon and All the Money in the World.

The premiere of Gladiator 2 will take place on November 22, 2024.
