Warner Bros. may allow other studios to make games based on Harry Potter, Batman, and other universes
Warner Bros. Discovery published a financial report with results for the past quarter. According to the company, the revenue of the gaming division decreased by 41% compared to the same period last year.
The sharp decline is associated with the failed release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which failed to bring money to its publisher. In addition, last year Warner Bros. released the hugely successful Hogwarts Legacy, whose sales exceeded 23 million copies.
The head of the company, David Zaslav, confirmed that he plans to further develop the gaming direction — especially the F2P market. He also noted that the publisher may start issuing licenses for the release of games based on its universes. Recall that Warner Bros. portfolio includes many popular franchises, including Harry Potter, Batman, and Game of Thrones.
