New Trailer for '83 Shooter Shows NATO vs. USSR Battle at Chernobyl's «Duga»

In 2019, we covered the announcement of '83, a military online shooter set during the Cold War from the developers of Rising Storm 2: Vietnam. However, the release never happened: Antimatter Games, the original studio, shut down, and the rights to the game were transferred to another team, Blue Dot Games. Today, they reminded everyone of the game’s existence by releasing a new full trailer.

The game’s concept remains unchanged. '83 takes place in an alternate 1980s where the conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact has escalated into an all-out war. Players will experience moderately hardcore battles across Europe, with one of the key locations being the area around Chernobyl's "Duga" radar system.

Notably, Blue Dot Games was founded by one of the former leaders of Antimatter Games. The team is composed of veterans who worked on Red Orchestra, Rising Storm, and Squad, including the lead designer of the original '83. What’s even more surprising is that the production of the game was made possible thanks to a fan who personally financed five months of development.

'83 is expected to be released in about a year. You can follow the project on Steam.
