A Darker Take on Shredder From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Unveiled — No Clan, Just Bloodlust
IDW Publishing has announced a brand-new monthly comic series, TMNT: Shredder, centered around one of the most iconic villains in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe — Oroku Saki, better known as Shredder. The first images from the series have already surfaced online.
The comic is written by Dan Watters, with art by Michele Bandini, while TMNT veteran Mateus Santolouco is responsible for both the cover and the new character design.
The story follows Shredder after he survives a series of insane events and loses everything — including the Foot Clan. Now, he’s back, hell-bent on revenge. His former apprentice has formed a rival clan that threatens New York, and Shredder, consumed by rage and determination, sets out on a bloody path of retribution, reminding the city why he was once so feared.
According to Dan Watters, this is a tale of a ruthless antihero’s fall and return, as Shredder rejects gods and former alliances alike. Michele Bandini adds that working on this project is a dream come true, as he grew up with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and has always been a huge fan of Shredder.
The first issue of TMNT: Shredder is set to release on August 13, 2025.
