The remasters of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat launched on PC and consoles on May 20th, and Steam users are ×not× happy. The updated versions of the classic shooters are getting slammed with negative reviews on Valve's platform:

A major point of contention is the lack of Russian voice acting. Players are also reporting numerous bugs, including save game issues. Some gamers aren't impressed with the updated graphics either. On the upside, the remasters do include achievements and Steam Workshop support.

«Nothing has changed from the old Stalker, spelling mistakes haven't been fixed, the old bugs are still there, and a bunch of new ones have been added. NPCs speak in English, Russian, and Ukrainian, and saves don't work at all,» writes Smerten.

«S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Enhanced Edition is an example of how to completely disrespect a classic and its fans. It's not a remaster, not an upgrade, and not even a mod – it's a blatant cash grab disguised as an update, with graphics on par with a mobile game and a ton of problems,» complains ReSik.

«My honest review is that this is an absolutely unnecessary remaster that serves no purpose,» says Тренер.

As a reminder, a detailed comparison of the remasters versus the original games recently surfaced.
