Intergalactic Might Be Naughty Dog's First Game With Full RPG Progression

New details about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet have surfaced — and this time, they didn’t come from Neil Druckmann, but from Kristina Gu, a former technical design assistant at Naughty Dog. Gu recently updated her LinkedIn profile, revealing one particularly intriguing detail.
According to her profile, she worked on implementing “RPG progression systems,” suggesting that Intergalactic could be Naughty Dog’s first title to feature full character progression with experience points and skill trees.
Technically, The Last of Us: Part 2 did include a form of progression, but it was tied to crafting materials — skills were unlocked using supplements gathered throughout the game rather than traditional XP systems.
Kristina Gu is now at Respawn Entertainment, working on an “unannounced Jedi project” — almost certainly the third installment in the Star Wars Jedi series, which was confirmed in 2024.
Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is currently in development for PS5 with no release date announced.
