Developers of the next Battlefield installment continue to test the game with franchise fans — and a new gameplay clip posted to Reddit yesterday has sparked heated debate. The footage highlights an updated movement system, with particular focus on sliding and shooting mechanics.

Many players criticized the ability to shoot while sliding, saying it undermines what makes Battlefield unique. Some called for slides to be removed entirely, while others suggested disabling aiming during the move.

I love having more movement options (slides, rolls, dives, etc.) but I believe they need to be detached from combat. I believe letting people shoot during these maneuvers is unhealthy for Battlefield.

I don't know how I feel about this. I think Battlefield as a series should be prioritizing player position and map/objective awareness over movement tech. If I want to play a game where the only thing that matters is an individual player's tech heavy play style, I'll play CoD.

Why the fuck do we have cod movement in BF again :( Who the hell is sitting there saying "hell yeah, BF players LOVE 100% accuracy while sliding horizontally....."

I genuinely thought this was CoD until I saw the subreddit this was posted on.

Some players defended the change, pointing out that the slides shown in the clip were short and likely hard to abuse.

“This actually looks good,” wrote Eastern-Mammoth543. “The slides are slow are “get you outta gunfire” -esque if used correctly. Idk why y’all complaining about a 3-4ft slide. Aiming is affected and seemingly useless to do in that time.”

Earlier gameplay leaks showcased an overhauled destruction system and a few gadgets. The full reveal of the next Battlefield is expected this summer, though an official release date has not yet been announced.
