New 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' Image Reveals Clan Leader Played by 'Harry Potter' Star

James Cameron isn’t slowing down after dropping the new Avatar trailer — a fresh still from Avatar: Fire and Ash has surfaced online, offering a first look at Peylak, the leader of the Windtraders, a nomadic clan that rides jellyfish-like creatures.

Peylak is played by David Thewlis, best known for his role as Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter films. He has also appeared in Justice League and the series Sherlock & Daughter.

The Windtraders are set to play a major role not only in the third installment but also in future sequels. As a nomadic people, they differ significantly from the other clans of Pandora.

Avatar: Fire and Ash hits theaters on December 19, 2025.
