Google’s NotebookLM service has rolled out "Video Overviews," a tool that converts user-uploaded documents into narrated slideshows. The update is live for English users now, with other languages coming later.
How Video Overviews work:
- NotebookLM’s AI analyzes your text, PDFs, or slide decks.
- It auto-generates slides combining key quotes, data points, and visuals (like charts/diagrams when possible).
- The final slideshow includes AI-generated narration explaining the content.
The feature is ideal for quickly building tutorials, visualizing reports, or simplifying complex ideas using your own materials.
Within a single notebook, users can now save multiple Video Overviews from the same source documents. Videos include 10-second skip controls and adjustable playback speed. Multi-video support will roll out to all NotebookLM users over the coming weeks. One caveat: Video Overviews currently only work in English.
