XPlus has launched its new XRival 01 mini-PC, built around the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 processor. This chip packs serious CPU muscle alongside a potent integrated Radeon 8060S GPU. The combo lets you run local language models with up to 70 billion parameters, making it a capable machine for neural network work and other demanding AI tasks.

At its heart is the 16-core Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 APU from AMD's Strix Halo line. Blending Zen5 architecture with cutting-edge integrated graphics, this chip means the XRival isn't just an LLM workhorse; it's also ready for visual workloads and even decent high-quality gaming. The real jaw-dropper is the 96GB of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM – a spec rarely seen even in high-end mini-PCs. Storage isn't an afterthought either, with two M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots (one pre-populated with a 2TB SSD).

Despite its tiny footprint (220.8 × 119.5 × 57.1 mm), XPlus didn't skimp on cooling. They've engineered a custom dual-fan setup with three copper heat pipes to keep thermals in check, even under sustained heavy loads.

Connectivity covers the essentials: HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 for monitors, three USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, separate headphone and mic jacks, plus the latest Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2. Depending on the configuration, you might also get an SDXC card reader and a 2.5G Ethernet port. It ships with Windows by default, but buyers can opt for Ubuntu pre-installed at checkout.

The XRival 01 carries an MSRP of $1,475, positioning it as one of the most affordable Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 systems available. However, there's a catch: it's a limited-run pre-order item, and XPlus warns lead times could stretch to 2-3 weeks due to constrained production.
