DeepCool Unveils PR-G: Power Supplies with Game-Changing Side-Mounted Connectors
Arkadiy Andrienko
DeepCool has introduced its new PR-G power supply series. The PR650G and PR750G models, along with their white (WH) variants, feature an unconventional design aimed at simplifying PC building, especially in cases with specific layouts.
The standout feature of these PSUs is the relocation of the modular connectors to the side instead of the traditional rear panel. This makes them far more practical when installed in a system's front-top position. Paired with motherboards featuring rear-panel I/O connectors, this layout drastically simplifies cable routing and hiding, significantly cutting down on the visual clutter inside the case.
The units boast a compact L-shaped footprint measuring 150 x 150 x 86 mm. They carry 80 PLUS Gold efficiency certification and meet the latest ATX 3.1 standard. Internally, they use an active PFC design with half-bridge LLC resonance and DC-DC conversion, built exclusively with Japanese electrolytic capacitors.
The series also includes comprehensive protection circuitry and can handle power surges up to 200% of total system rating and 300% specifically for the GPU. Being fully modular, they come equipped with a built-in 12V-2x6 power cable (rated for up to 450W), essential for modern graphics cards. A 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fan ensures quiet operation.
Initially, the lineup includes just two models (650W and 750W), positioned as solutions for mid-range to high-performance gaming rigs. However, it's worth noting that 750W might fall short for next-gen flagship GPUs like the anticipated RTX 5090.
DeepCool backs each model with a 10-year warranty. They are available now, priced at approximately 459 – 479 CNY (approx. $64 – $67) for the PR650G and 499 – 529 CNY (approx. $70 – $74) for the PR750G.
