ASUS Unveils 1000 Hz Gaming Controller at Gamescom

At Gamescom 2025, ASUS lifted the curtain on the updated wireless ROG Raikiri II controller. This second-generation model is packing some serious tech, aiming to go head-to-head with flagship gamepads from other major players.
The controller's standout engineering feat is its use of TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) sensors for the thumbsticks. According to ASUS engineers, this tech not only effectively tackles drift caused by mechanical wear and tear but also outperforms the more common Hall Effect sensors in both precision and power efficiency, though it does come at a higher cost.
When used wirelessly with its proprietary 2.4 GHz adapter, the controller hits a polling rate of 1000 Hz. This translates to ultra-low latency, a critical feature for competitive esports pros and fans of fast-paced shooters. The package is also geared toward serious gamers. ASUS is bundling not just the gamepad itself, but also a portable carrying case that doubles as a charger — a handy perk for gamers on the go. The built-in battery promises up to 30 hours of playtime.
For customization, users get four programmable back buttons, triggers with two modes (short and full pull), and micro-switches under all the face buttons for a crisp, tactile feel. The gamepad supports three connection types: Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless via the dongle, or wired USB Type-C. It's compatible with PC, Xbox Series X/S consoles, and ASUS's own ROG Ally handheld.
Pricing and exact availability for the ROG Raikiri II are still under wraps. How competitive it is on price will be a major factor in its success. ASUS claims its new gamepad is designed to compete directly with Razer's recently announced Wolverine V3, which offers similar features but boasts an even higher 8000 Hz polling rate.
