A playthrough of the Dying Light: The Beast demo shown at gamescom 2025 has surfaced online. The footage features a mission where the protagonist meets technician Pietro and heads out to repair a pumping station.

To restore the water supply, he has to infiltrate an infected zone and take down a boss. Along the way, players explore the city — set in a tourist spot called Castor Woods — and try to escape from night-time Jumpers.

The zombie action game is being developed by Polish studio Techland. The team previously said they see The Beast as a true third installment, one meant to fix the missteps of the second game.

Narratively, The Beast serves as a direct continuation of the original Dying Light. This time, Kyle Crane struggles to tame the monster within while seeking revenge on the Baron. The subtitle reflects his new state: after brutal experiments, Crane can briefly transform into a beast, tearing zombies apart with his bare hands, smashing the ground to create shockwaves, and hurling heavy objects.

You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape. But now, a battle rages inside you: zombie DNA clashes with human, and you struggle to control the beast within. You want revenge... but first you must tame it. It's your only option.

Dying Light: The Beast is set to launch on September 19 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. You can find more details in our full article.
