It looks like the Nintendo Switch 2, despite its upgraded hardware, may prove to be a real challenge for developers. YouTuber EpicNNG tested a demo build of Borderlands 4 and concluded that the game is nowhere near ready for the hybrid console.

According to EpicNNG, playing the Switch version of Borderlands 4 was rough. The shooter constantly stuttered, opening the inventory could take several seconds, and massive input lag turned shooting into a real ordeal. As for visuals, everything was dialed down to the lowest settings — textures, the YouTuber noted, looked like plasticine.

Meanwhile, the PC version of Borderlands 4 ran almost flawlessly. The blogger reported over 60 fps at native 4K. With DLSS and frame generation enabled, players could push the framerate past 200 fps.

Of course, the setup was accordingly powerful: AMD Ryzen 7 9800 X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, and 64 GB of RAM. You can read more about the game’s system requirements here.

Borderlands 4 launches September 12 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will follow on October 3.
