New Gameplay for Fallout: Bakersfield Mod Turns the Classic RPG into a Doom-Style Shooter

Extended gameplay footage of Fallout: Bakersfield has surfaced online — an ambitious GZDoom mod that reimagines the original 1997 RPG as a first-person shooter. The video includes new scenes that expand on what was shown in the July trailer.
The action takes place in Bakersfield, California, infamous for Vault 12 — the site of radiation experiments on live subjects. After the Great War, the survivors mutated into ghouls and built the Necropolis on the ruins of the city.
The gameplay clip shows the protagonist battling groups of ghouls and discovering Vault 12. The developer also highlighted weapons and gear, including a plasma rifle and a motion sensor by Wattz Electronics.
Fallout: Bakersfield is being developed by Russian creator Alexander Berezin, who previously worked on visuals for Fallout: Sonora, a mod continuing the story of the first game.
The mod is slated for release in 2027. Earlier this year, the community rolled out Fallout: London, a massive fan project set in post-apocalyptic Britain. And just recently, a full trailer for Fallout Season 2 dropped online, with the premiere set for December 17.
