TechPowerUp has conducted extensive testing of the PC version of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, using a staggering 33 different graphics cards. The game was run with maximum graphics settings, without any upscaling technologies enabled.

The testing included a wide range of cards, including RTX 3060, RTX 3070, RTX 3080, RTX 4060, RTX 4070, RTX 4080, RTX 4090, RTX 5060, RTX 5070, RTX 5080, RTX 5090, Arc A770, Arc B580, RX 7900 XT, RX 9070 XT, and more.

The test system specifications were as follows:

  • OS: Windows 11 Professional 64-bit 24H2

In conclusion, TechPowerUp expressed disappointment with the PC version of the game.

Hardware requirements are very high, just like other recent Unreal Engine 5 titles. In order to reach 60 FPS at 1080p, without upscaling, maximum settings, you need a RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 5070 Ti, RX 7900 XT, RX 9070 or faster. Got a 1440p monitor? Then you need either a RTX 4090 or RTX 5090. At 4K, not even the RTX 5090 can achieve over 60 FPS. What makes a huge difference is lowering the details from "Epic" to "High," pairing that with upscaling improves things a lot.

Overall, Metal Gear Solid is a very weak PC version at an extremely high price for what's offered, at $79.99. I had high hopes for the game, but am quite disappointed. Let's hope that the developer spends some time on polishing the experience, with better PC-specific support, maybe in a year or so you should consider it, when on sale. I wonder how they got Kojima to sign off on this version.
