The Skyblivion team has shared a special presentation ahead of the project’s long-awaited release. The massive mod, which recreates the entirety of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion inside Skyrim, has been in development for over a decade — but fans will finally get their hands on it in the coming months.

The new footage showcases the game’s prologue. As in the original, the player character — a prisoner in the Imperial City — witnesses an attack by a Daedric cult that ends with the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII.

Along the way, the developers highlighted several additions, including a lockpicking system adapted from The Elder Scrolls Online, revamped loading screens, and a redesigned class selection menu.

The team promises to share more about Skyblivion soon, but notes that development is now in its final stage. The mod will be released as quickly as possible.

Virtuos Studios and Bethesda previously released the official Oblivion remake — though it’s more often referred to as a remaster. You can read our review of the re-release here.

Skyblivion isn’t the only ambitious remake project for Skyrim. The TES Renewal team has also been working for years on Skywind, a full remake of Morrowind. While the mod doesn’t yet have a release date, the developers showcased an extended demo back in late May.
