Did Cronos: The New Dawn sneak in a mutated James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2?

The early access launch of Cronos: The New Dawn kicked off on September 3 for Deluxe Edition owners. First players have already dived into Bloober Team’s sci-fi horror and shared some curious discoveries.
At the time of writing, the game sits at 86% positive reviews on Steam. Players say Bloober has delivered a solid horror experience in the vein of Dead Space, with a tense atmosphere and intriguing story. The most common complaint so far is tied to optimization issues.
If Dead Space Remake and The Callisto Protocol had a baby, it’d be Cronos: The New Dawn.
Creepy atmosphere, weighty combat, and a world that pulls you in. Every fight feels tense, every corridor keeps you on edge. If you enjoyed those games, you’ll feel right at home here!
It's not better than Dead Space but it is a good survival horror game. The first 2 hours may give you the wrong impression on the game but the story and gameplay does open up a lot more after the slow starting. I personally still think their best work is Silent Hill 2 Remake but this is very close in quality. Good effort on Bloober Team's part it ain't a masterpiece but it's still damn great! Just a little warning though this games difficulty is on the harder side for this genre at least I think so anyway.
Some Slight optimization issues, but if you tweak the settings you can get a very playable frame rate, running right now between 75-90 fps. Now with the game style very similar to Dead Space (of course) but also it feels fresh enough to give itself its own style. I enjoy the level design "puzzles" and over all feel of the game. So far I'm really enjoying the experience and look forward to some performance updates.
I like it but it stutters real good. I have a 4070 ti super and ive disabled most settings and lowered rendering to medium and cant seem to get rid of the stutter. Im going to try more fixes but it may just need a day one patch.
Earlier, critics also shared their impressions. The game currently holds a 78/100 average on OpenCritic and 79/100 on Metacritic.
Attentive fans also pointed out what looks like a nod to the Silent Hill 2 remake — one of the monsters bears a suspicious resemblance to James Sunderland.
The full release of Cronos: The New Dawn is set for September 5. After that, Bloober Team will turn its attention to the remake of the original Silent Hill, which so far has only received a brief teaser.
