Alongside the release of a new gameplay trailer, we now know when reviews for Ghost of Yotei will go live. According to journalists, the embargo will drop a week before launch — on September 25 at 9 AM ET. Reporter Gene Park has already shared a photo showing the game’s start menu on PS5.
Ghost of Yotei is the latest title from Sucker Punch Productions and serves as a spiritual sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. The game follows Atsu, a young woman seeking revenge after her family is murdered by bandits in mysterious masks. Her journey takes her to northern Japan — a land beyond the emperor’s reach — where she vows to hunt down her enemies.
Back in July, the developers showcased 20 minutes of gameplay, highlighting major changes. The sequel revamps combat by replacing stances with multiple weapon types. Players can now master not only the katana but also the odachi greatsword, yari spear, kusarigama, and dual blades. You can find all the details in our breakdown.
Ghost of Yotei launches October 2 exclusively on PlayStation 5. In addition to the standard edition, players will be able to pick up a collector’s set featuring Atsu’s mask as well as limited-edition PS5 consoles.
Ahead of launch, on September 16, Ubisoft will release a story expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The add-on will be free for everyone who pre-ordered the base game.
