YouTube channel MinnMax has released a new episode of its “125 Rapid-Fire Questions” series, where developers share insights about upcoming games. This time, the guest was Sucker Punch creative director Nate Fox, who is currently leading Ghost of Yotei. Here are the highlights:
- The map in Ghost of Yotei is comparable in scale to Ghost of Tsushima, but the main campaign will be longer;
- Players will be able to climb Mount Yotei;
- There may be more than one protagonist—when asked about the number of playable characters, Fox dramatically sipped from his mug;
- The game will feature a “reasonable” platinum trophy;
- Weapon types unlock gradually as you progress;
- A powerful enemy strike can knock the heroine’s weapon out of her hands;
- The final boss fight was described with one word: “bloody”;
- Fox dens and bamboo training challenges will return, but in smaller numbers to add variety;
- One side activity allows players to paint pictures, including with the DualSense touchpad;
- A coin-flipping minigame will be so addictive, Fox joked, that it could become part of your Friday night bar routine;
- In Ghost of Tsushima, players often saw Jin’s bare backside during hot springs. That won’t change in the sequel;
- DLC is not ruled out;
- The main story will feature plenty of flashbacks exploring Atsu’s past;
- Atsu isn’t connected to Jin, though she may hear legends about him;
- A wolf will serve as the heroine’s key companion. You can’t control it directly, but it will assist in battles and may have its own progression tree;
- Horses now have a new mechanic—boosted jumping;
- The team is thrilled that GTA 6 was delayed to 2026: “We’re all still hung over. That was a great day!”
Ghost of Yotei launches October 2 exclusively on PlayStation 5. The developers recently shared a 10-minute showcase of the game’s open world.
