Instant death from the “ring” and full destruction: first details on Battlefield 6 battle royale

EA and DICE have officially unveiled the battle royale mode for Battlefield 6. Rumors about its existence had been circulating for a while, but now we finally have confirmed details.
According to a new blog post, the mode is built on the “unique DNA” and keeps the series’ core elements: squad-based class gameplay, tactical destruction, and vehicle combat. The developers also emphasized that the map was designed with tactical variety in mind.
Each match will feature 100 players split into 25 squads of four. Notably, fallen soldiers can rejoin the fight, but only if their squad has a mobile respawn beacon and a Support-class teammate. Squads can even field four of the same class if they choose.
The biggest twist is the introduction of a new “deadly ring” that closes in on the map. Unlike other battle royales, where the zone gradually chips away at health, here it instantly kills any soldier caught inside.
There’s no jumping in and out of it, no using it for cover, no walking through it — if you get caught in it, you are done. We’re excited to see how the ring affects the pace of the game and how it creates spontaneous showdowns.
Beyond looting and firefights, squads will also be able to complete side objectives for bonuses, such as unlocking weapon caches or securing a vehicle key. Some rewards will be air-dropped onto the map, potentially drawing enemy squads into skirmishes.
Battlefield 6 launches October 10, 2025. In addition to the battle royale, the game will feature traditional multiplayer and a single-player campaign, which will be showcased on September 26 at Tokyo Game Show.
The developers recently held an open beta that drew record numbers. On Steam alone, peak concurrent players surpassed 500,000.
