MP1st: Venom Game Not Canceled, Could Feature Carnage and Anti-Venom

Respected outlet MP1st — previously known for several accurate industry scoops — has shared new details on Insomniac Games’ upcoming projects. The report touches on Marvel’s Wolverine and the rumored Venom spin-off from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which some claimed had been canceled.
According to sources, development on Marvel’s Wolverine is proceeding on schedule, with release still targeted for 2026. It’s unclear when the game will be revealed, though insiders believe it could be shown at The Game Awards in December 2025.
The biggest surprise concerns the alleged Venom project, though MP1st cautions that all details should be taken with skepticism. One source claims the game will star Eddie Brock (unlike Spider-Man 2, where Harry Osborn bonded with the symbiote), with a design inspired by his comic-book counterpart. Anti-Venom will reportedly play a major role, helping Eddie keep his identity under control, while Cletus Kasady is expected to appear as Carnage.
MP1st has not been able to confirm the project’s current stage of development. With Insomniac fully focused on Marvel’s Wolverine, the Venom game is likely still in pre-production.
Toward the end of the report, journalists noted that Insomniac may also be working on bringing Miguel O’Hara — better known as Spider-Man 2099 — into its universe. He would likely debut in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3, alongside a new playable character, Silk.
Meanwhile, the next major PlayStation exclusive, Ghost of Yotei, is set to release on October 2. You can read the latest details about the game in this note.
