Saudi Arabian studio Steer Studios has announced a new mobile game based on the iconic Tom and Jerry cartoon. The project is titled Tom and Jerry Blast.
Tom and Jerry Blast is being developed under license from Warner Bros. The studio reportedly secured the green light for the game following the success of their strategy title, Grunt Rush: Battle and Conquer, which surpassed one million downloads on the App Store and Google Play in under a month. While details on Tom and Jerry Blast are scarce, the studio has released key art featuring the main characters and the game's official logo. Judging by the image, Tom and Jerry Blast appears to be a match-three puzzle game. The game is expected to be free-to-play.
We are honored and delighted to be working with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and look forward to delivering a fun, innovative game that lives up to the legendary status of the Tom and Jerry universe.
It's worth noting that a live-action Tom and Jerry movie was released in 2021. The film received a 25% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed $132 million worldwide.
Earlier this month, a free-to-play first-person mobile horror game Nightmares Within, reminiscent of the Resident Evil series, launched on Google Play. The game follows a soldier who finds himself on a mysterious, foggy island overrun with zombies. Prior to that, Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a free-to-play horror strategy game featuring characters from across the Resident Evil franchise, including Leon, Claire, Jill, Ethan, Ada Wong, and Alyssa Ashcroft, soft-launched on Android.
