Full reviews of Silent Hill f aren’t due until September 22, but one early score has already leaked. Elena Chapella of DualShockers shared her impressions and final verdict in a now-deleted Reddit post, effectively breaking embargo. Users quickly saved screenshots before the post was taken down.
Chapella gave the game a 9.5/10, praising Konami and Neobards for crafting a unique horror experience that honors the franchise’s legacy without simply copying past entries. She also revealed that New Game+ continues the story — suggesting the protagonist might be stuck in a time loop or something similar.
As a preface: I write for DualShockers, and I'm doing a review of Silent Hill f — because of it I was able to get the game early, and I beat it over the weekend. I'm rating it a 9.5/10; it's genuinely spectacular.
I'm already on New Game+, but some things to note before you start to play:
- Combat does teeter on souls-like, but not completely. It's challenging, you have to pick and choose your battles in typical SH fashion
- PAY ATTENTION TO THE CONTENT WARNINGS my god I wasn't ready for one scene in particular
- NG+ CONTINUES the story, and there are multiple endings. I'm not allowed to say anything more than that though
- READ EVERYTHING, the story is in written lore, either in your journal or from documents you find.
- The journal also updates frequently, keep checking it and reading it.
- It's completely unique to any other SH game you've ever played, but it still feels like a SH game. Once you understand that it's not going to be like the classics (but still capture that fear and anxiety), you're in for a great time
Those are just my sendoff notes for new players!! I had such a great time with this game, and I'm loving NG+ just as much — stay tuned for my full review when it's done being written!
Silent Hill f launches September 25 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. Deluxe Edition owners can start playing on September 23.
