On September 23, Konami opened early access to the horror game Silent Hill f. It’s available on all platforms (PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5) for owners of the Deluxe Edition. The PC version shipped without Denuvo, and it was quickly leaked online.
The Steam rating currently sits at 89%. Many players praised the game’s tense atmosphere, gripping story, and more dynamic combat compared to the previous entry. Optimization is also highlighted: apparently, the game runs smoothly even on older systems.
Before release, performance tests on PlayStation consoles surfaced online. According to analysts at Digital Foundry, the game runs great on Sony hardware, though the PS5 Pro version suffers from flickering artifacts. The issue is tied to the PSSR upscaling technology, and will likely be fixed in a future patch.
Silent Hill f is the first entry in the franchise set outside of Silent Hill itself, this time in a Japanese town called Ebisugaoka. The story follows high school student Hinako Shimizu as she finds herself trapped in a nightmarish version of her hometown. To escape, she must face horrifying creatures along the way.
The full release of Silent Hill f is scheduled for September 25. You can read about the game’s critical reception here.
