James Gunn's Superman Dominates HBO Max with 13 Million Views in 10 Days

James Gunn's superhero film, Superman, has racked up an impressive 13 million views on the HBO Max streaming service within just 10 days of its release. This news comes courtesy of Deadline.
Superman's impressive debut marks the best launch for a film on the service since Barbie. The movie's release also significantly boosted user interest in previous Clark Kent films on HBO Max:
- Superman: A Christopher Reeve Story — +670% increase in views
- Superman (1978) — +155% increase in views
- Superman Returns — +120% increase in views
- Man of Steel — +40% increase in views
The theatrical premiere of Superman took place on July 7th at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. Globally, the film grossed a substantial $615 million at the box office. Critically, the superhero flick earned a score of 68/100 on Metacritic, boasts an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and holds a 7.2/10 user score on IMDb. You can find our full review here.
It's also worth noting that a sequel, titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow, has already entered production. It's slated for release on July 9th, 2027.
In other news, the final trailer for Zootopia 2 recently dropped. Prior to that, it was revealed that Warner Bros. was the first studio to gross $4 billion at the box office in 2025.
