Babality: Woman Wins Mortal Kombat XL Tournament While Holding Her Newborn Daughter

An incredible story unfolded at the monthly Juicy Game Night tournament in Orlando, Florida—a gamer and 3D artist known as Legi0n claimed victory in a Mortal Kombat XL competition while holding her five-day-old daughter in her arms.
On September 27, the local fighting game community gathered for the event. Legi0n decided to participate, arriving with her husband and their newborn daughter, Cereza.
Baby Cereza was born on September 22 via C-section. The pregnancy was extremely difficult, as Legi0n was diagnosed with a "uterine window"—a condition where the uterine wall becomes dangerously thin after previous surgeries and can rupture during labor. To prevent tragedy, doctors performed the delivery ahead of schedule.
Despite the recent major surgery and ongoing recovery, Legi0n picked up a controller and made her way through the tournament bracket with her baby in her arms. In the finals, she managed to defeat a player named King Kai with a 3:2 score, and even beat her own husband along the way.
The first-place prize was symbolic—$28 and a ticket to DreamHack Atlanta at the end of October. For the young mom, this win became real proof that passion doesn’t have to end when a child is born.
A few years ago, Legi0n went through a personal tragedy—her first daughter, Alcina, lived only 11 days due to a rare tumor caused by Kasabach–Merritt syndrome. After her daughter's passing, she donated Alcina’s medical records to the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) to help researchers and other children with similar diagnoses.
Legi0n openly shares her story on social media, emphasizing how dangerous pregnancy and childbirth can be. "I want to be very vocal about how serious pregnancy and childbirth as a whole is. You can literally die, and I almost did. Twice," she wrote.
News of the gamer mom with her newborn spread quickly on social media. Players were amazed by her resilience, and Legi0n herself highlighted that parents can continue doing what they love—even if it means adapting to a new reality.
So glad that we honestly left the house and did this. Our daughter's so chill around noise and car rides, possibly because I traveled so much while pregnant. Never want to stop doing things that I love, just need to adjust my life accordingly for our younger daughter. I just want people to feel like no matter what they can do things that they still love, even if it’s in small chunks. Never feel like it isn’t worth it.
For Legi0n, participating was not just about winning Mortal Kombat, but also about celebrating a major life milestone with a community that had supported her through her darkest times.
By the way, on October 30, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will be released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The collection includes all the classic games in the series, and you can watch the trailer here. A collector’s edition featuring a Goro figurine has also been announced.
