Discussions are still heating up online after Electronic Arts was taken private in a massive $55 billion acquisition. While major analysts have already shared their thoughts, Larian Studios head Swen Vincke also offered his take in a short post.
Probably a good time to remind people that making games faster and cheaper while charging more has never worked before.

Though Vincke didn’t name EA directly, no other major announcements were making headlines that day — and many players took the remark as a clear reference. Fans largely agreed with his sentiment, arguing that big investment firms tend to prioritize profits over quality.
Analysts have already speculated that EA will now focus more heavily on its most profitable franchises, such as sports titles and live-service projects, while cutting back on riskier ventures. The company’s leadership, however, insists that going private will help expand the boundaries of entertainment.
Meanwhile, Larian Studios is working on two new games. Vincke has teased that their next title will bring players “plenty of fun.”
