Indie studio Spellcast Studios has launched an open playtest for its ambitious fantasy RPG Ardenfall. The developers describe it as an immersive adventure featuring “living” cities and intelligent NPCs — something fans of Skyrim and Morrowind are likely to appreciate. Players can try the game on Steam.

Set on the mysterious island of Ardenfall, the game invites players to explore a world filled with secrets, shifting landscapes, powerful factions, and quests that can shape the economy and the lives of its inhabitants.

Key features include:

Dynamic NPCs with daily routines and evolving opinions based on player choices;
Handcrafted dungeons filled with dangerous creatures and unique loot;
Sandbox-style combat with tactical depth;
A deep progression system allowing for flexible character builds.

Ardenfall is expected to enter Early Access in early 2026 on PC. Spellcast Studios plans to share a detailed roadmap outlining future updates soon.
