Another surprise entry has joined the list of 2025’s breakout indie hits. On October 15, Devolver Digital released BALL x PIT — a fantasy roguelike about descending into a bottomless pit teeming with monsters. On its first day, the game shot to the top of the Steam charts, surpassing EA FC 26 and Borderlands 4.

According to SteamDB, the game peaked at 15,000 concurrent players on Steam. It’s also available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, and is included with Game Pass. The user rating currently stands at 96%.

In BALL x PIT, players take on the role of an adventurer seeking treasures in a massive crater. The pit once housed the great city of Sharvilon, which was obliterated when a meteor struck the region.

Gameplay combines fast-paced combat and character progression with social elements — players can battle monsters, level up, and befriend allies along the way. Each run grants random modifiers, while a unique “fusion” system lets players combine weapons to create powerful synergies. You’ll also help rebuild Sharvilon by constructing new structures as you progress.

The Steam version of BALL x PIT is available now for $14.99.
