Lighter Than Most Tablets: Fujitsu Unveils a 634-Gram Laptop

Japanese company Fujitsu has introduced the UX-K3 laptop, which, at 634 grams, is now the world's lightest 14-inch device. This remarkable weight was made possible by a special combination of materials: the top panel is made of carbon fiber, while the base uses a magnesium-lithium alloy, making the device not only lightweight but also resistant to deformation. The manufacturer has also reduced the weight of the AC adapter to 151 grams, making the entire package even more portable.
At its heart, the laptop features an Intel Core Ultra 7 255U processor with 12 cores, providing ample performance for office work, content consumption, everyday tasks, and light gaming. It also comes with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
The 14-inch display has a 1920x1200 resolution (16:10 aspect ratio), which increases the usable screen area for working with texts and spreadsheets. The matte finish and 400-nit brightness ensure comfortable viewing even in brightly lit environments. Key features also include modern Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless modules. For peripherals, it is equipped with USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI ports, and a microSD card slot. Data security is handled by a fingerprint scanner and a physical webcam shutter.
According to Fujitsu's estimates, the laptop can last up to seven hours of video playback, with a standby time of up to 18 hours. Exact availability dates have not yet been announced, but the price has been set at $1,850 (approximately 150,000 rubles).
This launch follows Acer's recent introduction of the Predator Triton 14 AI, which demonstrated that a similarly sized chassis can house a powerful GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card and a high-performance CPU for gaming. These two models illustrate the current market trend: manufacturers are offering specialized solutions, with some, like Fujitsu, focusing on lightness and battery life, and others, like Acer, pushing for maximum performance in a minimal footprint.
